Eyebrows

Lots of people ask me about my new eyebrows!

If you view my photos, you will see that my eyebrows used to be very thin and sparse. I was told be Lee-en clinic that they could not do a 3D eyebrow embroidery for me given that my eyebrows were too thin. They showed me a photo and explained "this is the best result we have ever had and before she had her eyebrows done, she already had more hairs than you". Well Gee thanks coz I didn't even think those results were what I wanted! The Lee-en consultant then proceeded to ask me if I preferred to do my hair line instead! What?! My friend and I just laughed because there seriously isn't anything wrong with my hair line. That was our queue to leave.

APPOINTMENT: Since Lee-en could not do anything for me, I decided to put my full trust into MVP's call-in eyebrow artist. Unfortunately I do not know her name but you schedule an appointment with her through Ellen. On the day, you pay the monies owing at reception, wash your face, and meet her on the top floor/surgery level in the MVP building. Upstairs, you meet the lady, you get on the bed, she draws on eyebrows to which you can alter and agree on, you lay down and get numbing cream placed on you while she sets up, then she starts working on you. The whole process takes about 30 minutes.

PRICE: Since I did surgery at MVP, I was given a discounted price of 200,000krw. Lee-en charges 220,000krw for locals, 300,000krw for foreigners, and 330,000krw for foreigners who don't have cash. I am not sure how much MVP eyebrow artist charges if you don't get surgery there but if you find out let me know and I will update this!

EXPERIENCE: I had my first appointment DAY 5 post op and then my touch up Day 12 post op. You can view photos in my posts and you will notice that on these days my eyebrows look a bit red. You can also see that on Day 5 the color given to me is a light brown and on Day 12 I asked for a darker more ashy color; "dark brown".

POST CARE: Much to my surprise, I was told that I could wash my face on the same day I had the embroidery done. Being a little sceptical, I always waited till the next day to wash my face and when I did, I was careful not to rub my eyebrows with cleanser and only to splash water over the area. It was not until it starts peeling about 4 days after which was when I was personally comfortable with washing my entire face with cleanser. I am not sure how this artist's technique differs from other embroidery places because at other places you are not allowed to wet your eyebrows for a minimum of 10 days!! I found that washing my face did not alter my out come for the worse and I could probably really wash my face on the same day I had my eyebrows done.. but you know... just to give me that peace of mind, waiting for one day isn't that bad!

I am scheduled to meet this eyebrow artist again when I am back in October for a final touch up which is also included into the price.

COMMUNICATION: Though she does not speak English, you can communicate with her through hand signal and a little bit of English -- "ok", "little bit more", "dark", "light", "see you again", "touch up", "when", etc. Most of the time you will have either Ellen who speaks English fluently or a MVP nurse who speaks Mandarin and Korean to sit with you though they might not stay for the entire time.

PAIN: I assume that it hurts as much as it does getting a tattoo. The numbing cream definitely helps and although the pain is not unbearable, there is pain and definitely more painful than my surgery lol. Just be prepared not to be a wuss and you should be ok ^_^ I would say 5 to 6/10 for pain and it's constant pain for the duration of the embroidery which to me is better than having many breaks in between.

My Reflection: Since I had such a drastic change in my eyebrows before and after, I will be honest and tell you that I was SHOCKED and HORRIFIED when I first saw what was done to my eyebrows. I thought "oh no! I love my surgery for my eyes and nose but I have been ruined with my eyebrows!" LOL! It took me 4 days or so to appreciate the shape but the initial color given to me was to suit my skin and not my hair. MVP scheduled me for a touch up and I was able to get a darker color second time around. After this I fell in love with my eyebrows and up to today love them very much. Do I recommend this eyebrow artist? ABSOLUTELY YES! She is patient, kind, listens, does what you ask. Just don't be like me the first time around and just lay down, get up, and leave lol. She genuinely wants you to be happy with your eyebrows so don't be to ask questions or for what you want!

My tips for you:
-make sure you get the right color by asking her to match your hair color/ know the color you want!
-after she finishes, have a look in the mirror and make sure you are completely satisfied and if not ask her to add to areas you want a little more done -- she was very kind to oblige me!
-bring in some photos of the type of eyebrows you want -- I didn't do this because I didn't know what eyebrow shape would suit me.

I hope this helps! Good luck to all of you!! :D
